Stephen Green

Stephen Green is an independent scholar who has worked with philosophers from around the world on the study of metaphysics cross-culturally; he is the editor of Doing Metaphysics in a Diverse World: How We Make Sense of Things Across Cultures (Bloomsbury, May 2025). He has written widely on culture, identity and geopolitics. He is currently working on a project on the metaphysics of love, which will examine the ways in which love has been given metaphysical status cross-culturally, looking particularly at Greek, Jewish, Christian and Islamic expressions, at the parallel development of Bhakti in Hindu thought, at Mahayana Buddhist perspectives, and at the very different metaphysics of Chinese Confucianism. He is based in London.
